"El Castillo" (Xunantunich, Maya Archaeological Site, Belize)
"Cahal Pech" (3) (Belize)
"Cahal Pech" (2) (Belize)
"Cahal Pech" (1) (Belize)
The National Assembly Building in Belmopan, Belize, March 2012. Notice how the architecture was designed to resemble a pre-colombian Maya temple. In 1970 the capital of Belize was reestablished in Belmopan in response to the near destruction of Belize City in 1961 by Hurricane Hattie. Belmopan, the "Garden City" is a planned city, so most of the buildings are the same age. Side note: Belize is a parliamentary constitutional monarchy; Queen Elizabeth II is technically the Queen of Belize!
